Balby by the Sea is a one day event transforming Woodfield Club in Balby into a seaside extravaganza for the day. The community created the project with Kate Sully (Art Supporter for Balby from 2013-2016) as part of Phase One of Right Up Our Street and the first version happened in 2015 with trapeze artists, walkabout theatre performance, arts and crafts workshops, and all the food and fun of the seaside. The event was free and more than 800 people attended from the surrounding villages.
In 2016 with the Balby Community Arts team (the newly costituted group) organised the day and once again the event was at capacity for attendance and had beautiful summer weather!
Balby by the Sea took place again in August 2017 with an traditional British holiday theme, which was also a great success!
RUOS and BCA hope to bring Balby by the Sea back in 2018 - watch this space for more information!
