Announcing the third DNweekeND – we want YOU!
2nd – 4th September 2016
Deadline for applications:
9.00am Monday 6th June 2016
“It was a really positive community atmosphere all day.”
DNweekeND is a festival of arts in Doncaster town centre public spaces, arts venues, shop units and shopping centres – indoors and outdoors – for one weekend only.
Back for its third year following successful festivals in 2014 and 2015 which saw over 12,000 public participants, DNweekeND 2016 is teaming up this year with the first weekend of the St. Leger Festival.
We are looking for local and visiting artists and voluntary groups who wish to create exciting and vibrant public experiences that celebrate creativity in Doncaster and help us develop and engage new audiences. Small amounts of funding are available to help realise your ideas.
DNweekeND is for everyone! Whether you are an individual or a group; a community arts volunteer or a nationally-recognised collective: if you want to showcase high quality work in our town centre and genuinely engage Doncaster audiences, then we want to hear from you!
Last year 52 unique and inventive projects were commissioned as part of DNweekeND, allowing incredible opportunities for a range of artists and groups to develop and share their work with local and visiting audiences.
“We were able, as artists, to imagine and create a piece of work
that would not have ordinarily happened.”
Venues for DNweekeND 2016
These are the currently proposed venues for DNweekeND 2016, including the types of work that will most likely be programmed for each venue:
· Market Place (Outdoor theatre, music and performances)
· Town centre streets (Walkabout performances)
· Town centre historic buildings (Live performances, exhibitions)
· Waterdale Shopping Centre (Shop unit installations, outdoor music and walkabout performances)
· Other town centre businesses (Live performances, exhibitions)
NB – with our work at Waterdale Centre this year, we are exploring the theme of ‘Town of Dreams’ – so do bear this in mind if appropriate to your proposal.
We are able to offer small grants to support/develop work – from £50 to a maximum of £1,500 (including VAT) - appropriate to the needs of your proposal.
So if you have an exciting idea for the DNweekeND that offers Doncaster audiences something new, we want to hear from you!
