The Great Bentley Songbook is an exciting new Right Up Our Street music theatre project for 2018. Participants will create a programme of new songs inspired by Bentley past, present and future in collaboration with composer/vocal leader Sharon Richards and playwright/director Richard Hurford. They will then develop the songs into a vibrant new music theatre show leading to public performances by Bentley Choir and other Songbook company members in Bentley and beyond.
We aim to create a company of singers, musicians, actors and writers to create and develop the show in early 2018 and then rehearse towards performances beginning in late Spring 2018. Participants with connections to Bentley are especially welcomed, but we’re also looking for anyone interested in being involved in any aspect of creating a new piece of music theatre from all across Doncaster. The project will begin with 3 practical workshops in January and February 2018 where we’ll create the songs and stories about Bentley people, places, hopes and dreams.
You could be experienced or you could be completely new to writing or performing- everyone is welcome to attend, provided you are over 12 years of age.
Let’s sing out about Bentley!
