The Moon Booth was inspired by the 'Paper Moon' travelling photo studios popular at the turn of the 20th Century and often shot in portable photographic booths that could be found at arcades, carnivals and county fairs.‘Paper Moon’ portraits were generally an American phenomenon and there is little information about how and why they started. There was however a general fascination with the moon at the turn of the century with the first successful flight of an aeroplane by the Wright Brothers in 1903 and the passing of Halley’s Comet in 1910. The Moon Booth is a traditional pop-up portrait studio with a photographer and assistant, using a real wooden crescent moon to recreate the posing experience, and digital technology to create an instant vintage style print to take away.
