Right Up Our Street have commissioned Street Artist Hixxy to create and paint a new mural for the Doncaster Deaf Society on the Balby Bridge Estate. This artwork is funded by Round Two of the Doncaster Space 2 Create Fund.

About the Artist
Jo Hicks, is a designer & painter known for her large scale ‘pop botanical’ murals.
“My work is a playful exploration in colour, form and balance; obsessed with all things botanical.
Bright dynamic murals larger than life, dialling in a retro vibe with a contemporary sensibility.Continuously evolving practise grounded in collage and printmaking. WHAT IS SPACE 2 CREATE?
Space2Create is a unique yet simple approach to delivering grants within Doncaster that encourages businesses and individuals within the creative industries (Creative, Digital, Heritage, Leisure and Food sectors), as well as property owners, to:
find alternative uses for town centre units, i.e. enhancing, animating or creating alternative uses for buildings, spaces and places, borough-wide
and/or:
to explore, create, and showcase novel uses of indoor and outdoor spaces - including events, co-working, and to trial innovations (i.e. idea development, via feasibility, viability and business planning)
Community Consultation - The Deaf Community Centre
Right Up Our Street approached the Doncaster Deaf Community Centre Community Group to collaborate on this new and exciting piece of artwork by Hixxy! The group wanted to feel more visible on the estate and wanted the mural to incorporate BSL within the artwork so it felt the work was representative of them. It’s been wonderful to involve the society in the creation of this mural, step by step.
