#ArtInBalbyBridge
As part of our Phase 4 programming, we have committed to delivering a three-year programme of work within the Balby Bridge Estate to get to know the community on a deeper level.
The Community Panel
The Balby Bridge Community Panel was established in November 2023 with its aims to bring community members together to help form and shape the work we deliver on the estate.

Jamie Bubb’s Artist In Residency

Jamie Bubb got to know the community on the Balby Bridge Estate by visiting different groups that meet within the estate, introducing himself and inviting them to take part in his photography project, “Faces of Balby Bridge”.
Faces of Balby Bridge Exhibition and Celebration Event
July 2023
During 2023, Jamie spent time connecting with the residents and photographing individuals to share their story and creativity. The exhibition features sitters from six community groups based on the estate.
Sitters were given the opportunity to customise their portrait with coloured lighting and some chose to take their own image with the use of a remote control. Everybody was encouraged to bring something to their photoshoot that they felt says something about them; a precious, important, meaningful object used to help tell their story without words.
The photographs in this exhibition are the result of the kindness and energy of the people who live, work or have a connection with the Balby Bridge estate in Doncaster.
It was a wonderful day celebrating Jamie’s year-long artist in residence with the residents of the Balby Bridge Estate. It was beautiful to be able to share Jamie’s collaboration with the estate, share stories together and celebrate the community.
Free activities were be provided by The Family Hub team, alongside craft activities with Karen Hall. Sarup from Awesome Faces came along and Face Painted and there was free ice cream!
This Exhibition is now on display at The Point Gallery
