Charlotte Felters - All Eyes on Culture

Charlotte teamed up with local Doncaster artists: August Charles, Kiziah & the Kings and the incredible Doncaster charity b:friend. August and Kiziah & the Kings delivered a musical performance, covering a song chosen for them by the b:friend older neighbours. Both artists sent their own original tracks to the b:friend neighbours which was then sent out in their monthly care packages as a mixtape!

The performance’s will be shared on b:friend’s social media for the neighbours to enjoy and to bring the younger and older community together through music.

All Eyes on Culture was done in collaboration with fellow producer Rosie Clark. The small scale pilot tested during this R&D phase can be used to help further Charlotte’s own practice in her role with and local arts and culture organisation Doncopolitan. In its ‘Digital Doncopolitan Culture Crawl’ offering paid opportunities to local artists, freelancers and allowing grass roots and genuine creative collaborations to take place.

August Charles

The Track out now on all streaming platforms, Listen here! ffm.to/augustcharles

‘Take Me Away’ is a dreamy fusion of jazz and soul, centred on August Charles

’mellifluous voice, and complemented by a flutter of scintillating piano. In these difficult times, music like August Charles’ is essential. Take Me Away allows listeners to escape from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

Based in Doncaster, August is a triple threat singer-songwriter-producer, August’s unique style has a variety of roots. His inspirations lie in Soul, RnB, Pop and in the rich ZamRock movement of the mid 70’s,

‘In 2019, August was scouted by the respected Higher Rhythm Talent Development Program. Working alongside renowned studio engineer Paul Littlewood and multi-award winning producer Andy Seward, August benefited from high-quality recording and

mentoring facilities. It was here that August transformed his sparkling potential into tangible

achievements – such as 'Take Me Away’.

Watch August' interview with Higher Rhythm here.

With a flawless falsetto like no one else you’ve ever heard before, August croons softly about escape, enchanting the ears of the listeners and suspending them in serenity. This newcomer shows immense talent, comparable to that of Sampha, Laura Mvula,

King Krule and Frank Ocean.

"I could hear the song existing in a film during a time of despair as the protagonist summons the courage to take action. The song mixes nostalgic sounds and contemporary soul and provokes you to listen with your heart rather than your analytical mind.". Miki Hellerbach

Kiziah and the Kings

Kiziah and The Kings personify the highest quality of Soul Funk Rock! In a word AMAZING!" Kaya Festival ..

"This lot deserve premiership action and we are showcasing them at Kaya at One Love! 2018 "

“Unique and completely fresh, hard to pinpoint a style as Kiziah oozes the sexy sass of the jazz & blues but with a seriously real REGGAE vibe flowing throughout. Top notes of rock & a hint of 70s/80s funk with a ska edge. Make of that what you will, but this girl has so much soul and sings from the heart with a grit that I’ve not heard in a long time. Her band compliment her completely.”Clare McPhearson

“ Kiziah & The Kings bring an eclectic blend of styles from Reggae, Rock N Roll and funk together brilliantly“ Kiziah is a very strong vocalist who has energy & character with a band with incredible musicainship" (John Roberts) BLOCKHEADS
