Right Up Our Street 〰️ 10 Year Anniversary 〰️ Desert Island DN 〰️ 2020 〰️
Moving into Lockdown, Right Up Our Street took some time to carefully review our Creative Programme for 2020. The present period of social isolation meant that the work we had planned was no longer fit for purpose.
As a network we wanted to move quickly to support locally based artists but also to reach out to isolated community members and collectively find new ways to collaborate. The result of this review allowed us to shift and adapt our focus and support seven locally based artists or artists with firm community connections within Doncaster to spend a month long period of research and development. The funding would give each artist the time and space to adapt their practice to meet the challenges that the global pandemic had set.
Applications were shortlisted by community members and arts professionals living and working within Doncaster, this ensured that Right Up Our Street made a fair and balanced decision.
We're so pleased to be able to say that the outcomes of the Research and Development period have far exceeded our expectations, with many of the projects reaching into new communities and capturing the thoughts and feelings of the many individuals living in Doncaster during these unprecedented times. This content has been preserved and presented in a raft of beautiful and very poignant ways and we are thrilled to be able to share those outcomes with you now.
Desert Island DN is a week long showcase of the Research and Development work, shared with you in collaboration with Sine FM. Radio interviews will take place everyday at 12pm followed by the launch of new material here on the Right Up Our Street website.
