Donctopia is “an imaginary version of real-world Doncaster to inspire a kinder, fairer, more creative place for EVERYONE to live”.

The idea began in June 2020 as part of our Desert Island DN project during the first lockdown. DONCTOPIA is inspired by the idea of Utopia – an imaginary perfect society – focusing on the concept of ‘Concrete Utopias’, not fantasies but blueprints for a better future. It aims to unlock the hopes and dreams of Doncaster residents and invent ways to make them a practical reality.

The Citizens of Donctopia came together and created a National Anthem to align with their perfect society.

Following on from their online project, the Citizens of Donctopia started to move their ideas into the world and grow. 'A Burst of Donctopia’ was teased online through tweets, telling audiences a time and a place (The Danum Gallery, Library and Museum).
