Mexborough Cinema Takes Up Alms - by John Beal
The Cosy Cinema, Mexborough’s Community Cinema enters its sixth year in 2020. As a thank you to all the loyal attendees this Christmas there will be a buffet at the showing of “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Sunday 15th December 7 o’clock. There will also be Christmas inspired poetry performed by members of Read 2 Write. In this time of giving we are also asking that people once again bring donations for Food Aware, the Mexborough food bank run by local councillor Sean Gibbons. The recent letter to Santa from a young girl in Liverpool asking for a home for her mother and food also inspired the committee to ask if people would kindly bring donations to each of the forthcoming showings in 2020 also, please see the list for details of dates and films.
Finally, the cinema would like to thank the continuing support of Peter Neuman and his staff at Mexborough Business Centre, Councillors Andrew Pickering and Sean Gibbons, RUOS, Read 2 Write, Mexborough & District Heritage Society, Mexborough & District British Legion as well as Helen and David McCabe of 30 Mexborough for their ongoing support. A Special thank you to the local libraries, and all the cafes and shops who continue to support the cinema by displaying posters and leaflets for the Cosy Cinema. From all the committee and volunteers we wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
