About The Poetry Takeaway Takeover
20/05/2024
On Monday 20th May Right Up Our Street brought The Poetry Takeaway van to Mexborough. The van visited Mexborough Market to deliver a morning of Poetry to the community. Young people from New Pastures Primary School joined us to serve up poems to the local people of Mexborough.
Visitors of the Poetry Takeaway Van could take their poems home as a souvenir of their time with our local poets. Heritage Doncaster’s Moving Museum were there to share objects and stories and The National Literacy Trust gave away free books and celebrated the magic of words through a poetry reading.
Please note: there is no food involved in the activity.
What is The Poetry Takeaway?
Personalised poetry for guests and visitors, written performed and delivered free by the young people of New Pastures Primary School, all from the mobile Poetry Emporium, The Poetry Takeaway.
The Poetry Takeaway team aim to make Poetry accessible and the process starts with an initial discussion, taking the order, gathering ingredients. They aim to complete the poem quickly, it is carefully crafted, written and performed, wrapped up and sent on it’s journey.
We guarantee everything from tears, laughter and everything in between!
