DN Festival of Light is Back! #2022

Right Up Our Street are so pleased to announce that the DN Festival of Light is returning to Doncaster, November 18-20th 2022.

This year, as part of Right Up Our Street’s 10th Anniversary, they are delivering festival activity across two venues. St. George’s Minster and Doncaster’s Corn Exchange.

St. George’s Minster will host French Artist Guillaume Marmin’s 1.3 Seconds and it will be the first time the artwork has been presented in the UK.

With the space travel theme in mind, the installation by Guillaume Marmin gets its name from the time it takes for light to travel from the earth to the moon at a velocity of 300 000km/s. Originally inspired by the church’s columns, stained glass windows and overall gothic style, visitors are given glimpses of the architectural details as lights flash and illuminate the grand space of the Minster.

This year, for the second venue, Right Up Our Street have commissioned Greenaway & Greenaway to create an artwork to be projected on the Corn Exchange. This piece is about telling the story of Doncaster through the eyes of the people, creating a unique film. The projection features spoken word narration by Toria Garbutt and GSD.

Right Up Our Street are so excited to welcome you back for their Fourth DN Festival of Light.
